One of my cousin recently moved to Adelaide along his two kids and wife. He mentioned a couple of things which are mentioned below:

1- International Driving License
2- International ID card (NICOP is for Pakistan I guess)
3- Clothes / Blankets
4- AUD $6000 ( For any initial expenses e.g Rent / Food / Travel )

International ID card is not important, as you will have your passport.

International Driving License is handy in some states, whereas you can drive with foreign license (not international) in other states (license must be in English or a translation is required). Here is what Australia law says (you'll find links to state law in this link)
Australia Road Law said:
Some states require you to carry an International Licence with your current foreign licence. Other states request you carry your current foreign driver's licence together with a formal translation of your licence into English.

Most of the states allow to use foreign license for maximum 3 months if you are a permanent resident or citizen of Australia (temporary visitors can drive indefinitely). For example here is what NSW says
NSW Road Low said:
Permanent residents
If you’re a permanent resident of Australia under the Commonwealth Migration Act 1958, you can drive or ride on a current overseas licence for a maximum of three months from the date you arrive in Australia. To keep driving, you need to obtain (not just apply for) a NSW licence within this three month period.

I guess one of the very important thing is the housing. Unless you already have an arrangement here, you should better look for the options - initially a temporary thing until you have a permanent lease. Renting a house in Australia is not very straight forward, as owners usually makes lots of checking (job status, bank balance etc) through agents. Some people prefer shared housing, which are ofcourse easier to get as no agency is involved. You can start with www.allhomes.com.au if you want to rent, or www.airbnb.com.au for temporary abode.

If you are planning to land in May-Sep, wear heavy clothing as nights can be very chilly in several states.

Australia is pretty much expensive, so you can bring enough clothing if you want. You can bring few necessary utensils, but at the end you have to rely on local buying if you plan to stay on the long run. Bringing things from abroad is ofcourse economically efficient, but I guess some people just overdo it, resulting a major mental stress. So, my advice, don't take any stress about it, just bring whatever your luggage permits.

Australian customs are very much strict about foods/seeds etc. for obvious health issues. So, my advice, forget about bringing your home's flavor if you want to avoid hassle in the airport. Every time I go through the airports, I see some people just bring foods like they won't survive without those, and I never understood that philosophy.

About cash, well it depends on what is your planning. If you plan to rent a house, it's around $300 for a 2 bedroom apartments if you go far from city center (and you should, because transport is very easy). Again it depends on which state you are planning to move (check allhomes link I gave above). And usually you need to give 4 weeks equivalent rent as bond money. I guess $6000 as @Rakshanda suggests is minimum if you have a family and have plan to rent a house.

As usual, you are gift to us @MysticRiver , yes this info is great..Just to add one important thing is, Australian immigration doesn't allow wooden items so better carry utensils without any wood material.

Yeah, one more important thing is , make sure you declare all the items that are in your check-in and hand luggage. Failing to do so may result in fines and hassles...

Well, @SC189, by declaring do you mean reporting all the things that we are carrying with us into the country at the customs? And how do we get fined if we're not declaring something?

No, there is a list of thing which you need to declare. You will have that list in the immigration form. Just google Australia arrival form to see te list.

Am attaching a copy of the Incoming Passenger Card (IPC) for travellers, used to declare items, as received from the Aus site for reference in future. Thought it'll be helpful for members.

So this is very interesting for me as I have travelled to Sydney many times in the past so that was easy for me to fill up so now this time, when i am entering as a PR then what should I enter from the 3 options like: Migrating permanently to Australia as this time, i am just entering to validate my initial entry date validation and my plan to relocate permanently next year. Second option is Visitor or temporary entrants? or the third option resident returning to Australia? From these options, what i need to select?

If your intention is to give a short entry as a PR holder to fullfil IED, I guess A or B should be okay whereas B is more logical. Nevertheless, nobody is going to bother about this option.

Thanks Mystic. Sometime, I thinks, why u run this portal without getting anything in return, i am just talking monetary perspective, sure, you will get lot of best wishes and blessing from applicants, it looks like me to NGO without having any support from any organisation. Is there any chance, i can meet you personally and express my gratitude and thanks, when I land to Sydney? I guess you live some where in Sydney :)

Thanks for your kind words.

I have a personal interest in Australian immigration and citizenship system, so I thought why not just help people with that. I personally met several people here who spent multiple thousands of dollars to pay someone just because they lack some basic knowledge of the system. Without disrespecting any migration agents, who can be really helpful sometimes, especially if the applicant has no problem with money, or don't have time to spent for the process, or have very complex scenario (though I believe there is nothing so complex that you can't do it yourself), I feel the money involved is too much provided that they cannot influence the outcome or the processing time.

This was the reason why MigrationDesk was born.

On the monetary side, I do run few advertisements in MD, not for profit though, rather to partially cover the operating cost (hosting, domain, scripts etc.).

Unfortunately, I don't live in Sydney, I live in Canberra. However, we will surely be in touch through MD and hopefully, someday we might meet in person as well.

@MysticRiver Since the foreign license is valid for those with PR for 3 months, is it better to take an international drivers license as well?
If am having an intl license, then will I be able to use it indefinitely or will it be required for me to get an Aus license?

I heard Intl license works for more than 3 months if its three years older. E.g if you have license validity from 2013 till 2018, you will be able to use it more than 3 months.

But you will have to ultimately get an Aussie license anyway.

The thing is am only having an Indian license, and was thinking of getting an intl one as well. Saw in some post that some states allow foreign licenses for 3 months for those with PR, and in such a case if I have an intl license, will it be anymore effective?
Also, it all depends on whether I get a license ASAP from initial landing, isn't it? and how is the difficulty for achieving an Aussie license?

They dont take bribes :) They take tests, so yes its a bit difficult but nothing is impossible.

Hahaha.. :) I didn't mean that. But, have seen some tests which are simple and even then the candidates are not awarded the licenses, quoting some unknown rule. (Especially in the Middle east).

Aussies go by the books, unlike people in middle east. So you do not have to worry about that if you are good at driving and following the rules of driving.
