Hi,

I have, considering all relevant factors, 65 points (15 Age + 15 Edu + 15 Exp + 20 Engl Lang- PTE 79+). I could add another 5 points for partner skills. My occupation, ICT Project Manager (135112), is not in the accepted SOL for Subclass 189. Hence, I was considering Subclass 190 for either VIC or NSW, but on 15 May, VIC has stopped accepting new 190 Subclass applications.

After this new development, I was left with few choices and many questions -
1) Is it common for states to stop accepting new applications?
2) Can I still go ahead and lodge an EOI for 189 (even though my occupation is not listed in accepted SOL)
3) Which states are currently accepting ICT Project Manager for their respective Subclass 190?
4) Does going for a State sponsorship increase the overall processing time?
5) With a PR (190 NSW), can one work in Canberra?
6) In a situation where one (who is on a 190 Visa) is unable to secure a job in that state, would he/she be allowed to move to another state for opportunities?

Your help and advice would be highly appreciated.

Regards,
Sanjay S

Is it common for states to stop accepting new applications?
It's not unprecedented, most likely they will reopen in July.

Can I still go ahead and lodge an EOI for 189 (even though my occupation is not listed in accepted SOL)
If your skill is not in MLTSSL for 189, there is no point of submitting EOI for 189.

Which states are currently accepting ICT Project Manager for their respective Subclass 190?
You have to look through the states' websites.

With a PR (190 NSW), can one work in Canberra?
You are supposed to stay and work initial 2 years in your sponsoring state.

In a situation where one (who is on a 190 Visa) is unable to secure a job in that state, would he/she be allowed to move to another state for opportunities?
I have seen cases where the applicant moved before 2 years, so far no issues, but not sure about future (specially citizenship application).

My apologies, I should have been more clear.

5) With a PR (190 NSW), can one work in Canberra?
Since Canberra is in NSW, with 190 (NSW) will a candidate (190 NSW) be allowed to work in Canberra OR is Canberra excluded from NSW and considered as in ACT.

6) In a situation where one (who is on a 190 Visa) is unable to secure a job in that state, would he/she be allowed to move to another state for opportunities?
Is there a process mandated by Australian DHA or DIBP to be followed in these cases?

Thank you MysticRiver for your prompt and timely response. Truly appreciate.

Sanjay S

As @MysticRiver suggested earlier, no processes have been mandated yet for the above mentioned case. But, in the future, it could affect once the citizenship is applied for. We cannot predict what the government holds within it.

Hi,
No luck so far......I have not received any pre-invites till-date. Unfortunately, the minimum number points required for SA has been changed to 75. And my MARA agent says that the number of points for my experience which was 15 till last year has now eroded to 10points. I am no longer eligible to apply for SA 489.

How did your points for experience get reduced? I find that amusing.

Possible if someone doesn't have a relevant job in the last 2 years, but had a relevant job 8 years prior to that (as DHA considers only last 10 years' experience for points).
