Hi @MysticRiver , @mohsinciddiki and others,

Request you to assist with a query I have. I am currently on bridging visa A for my 482 (earlier expired and filed for renewal). The grant for the new 482 will be delayed at least till June, as my wife is currently expecting and the medicals would be done post the delivery of the baby in June.

Next, I'm also waiting for NSW 190 invite with 90+5 points for Software Engineer job code. Havent got the preinvite in recently concluded 2 rounds, but hoping to get invite at least before June this year. I would want by 190 Bridging visa to kick in as soon as feasible as it would give me unlimited working rights, but I assume my 482 Bridging visa would be active then. Wanted to check if somebody has any idea what would happen in that scenario, and if I can switch to 190 bridging visa while my 482 BVA is still active? I dont want to be stuck with the same employer till my next 482 grant expires..

BV activates when your existing visa expires. So, in my understanding you'd need to withdraw 482 application after you submit visa application for 190 in order to your later BV to be active.

However, I don't see a point because a new BV gives you the same working right as your existing visa (in this case 482 BV), not the one you applied for (190). So, when you say 190 BV, it doesn't really mean it'll give you the working rights of a 190 visa.

Hi @MysticRiver Appreciate your response, but don't you think Bridging Visa C will be granted in this case? Not sure about the working rights, but I got to know from someone that bridging visa C generally comes with no working rights, and they have to be requested to be added in. Are you aware of any such scenario?

Oh, you are right. You'll most likely get BVC.

I am not totally aware of that, but according to DHA

DHA said:
The initial BVC we grant when you apply for your substantive visa will not let you work, unless the substantive visa you have applied for is one of the following SkillSelect visas:

  • Business Talent visa (subclass 132)
  • Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa (subclass 188)
  • Business Innovation and Investment (Permanent) visa (subclass 888)
  • Employer Nomination Scheme visa (subclass 186)
  • Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme visa (subclass 187)
  • Skilled — Independent visa (subclass 189)
  • Skilled — Nominated visa (subclass 190)
  • Skilled — Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 489).

@MysticRiver Correct, and according to this list, mine is
  • Skilled — Nominated visa (subclass 190)
So ideally, i should have the full working rights.
