Greetings to All,

I received my 489 visa on AUG 2019. Since this is a state sponsored visa with below condition , i am having some clarifications on the below conditions.

Condition:
While you are in Australia you must live, work and study only in an area we specify as a regional or low-population growth metropolitan area of Australia.

When i checked the areas listed in above site, that includes all the regional-low population areas of entire Australia.

Question1:
Since my visa was sponsored by NSW, i can work/studay on the regional areas of NSW only OR i can work in any regional areas specified in other states too?

Queston2:
Me and my wife are planning to work in Australia. I have my current company branches in australia. But branches are all in city areas like sydney, canberra, melbourne etc. So if i allow my wife to work in regional area , can i work in non-regional area? ( we both have 489 visa).

Ofcourse not, NSW has helped to get visa, you wrote a commitment statement also, now its your time to be loyal with them.
So if i allow my wife to work in regional area , can i work in non-regional area?
See, for time being it would be fine but when you will apply for 887 then may be you will have tough time. In that case your wife will be eligible to apply for 887 but you will not fulfilled their requirement because you have not spend 2 years in regional area as per commitment.

Thank you for the reply. However, if my wife applies for 887, it will be applicable for entire family including me. Right? In that case, she can apply for 887 and get visa for whole family?

That's something not clearly outlined by DHA. In the past, DHA 887 included the criterion that all adult dependents needed to meet residency criteria (but not employment criteria). However, that criterion has been removed since the DHA website was updated (don't know if that's intentional or just missed).

However, the following are mentioned in the current website as eligibility criteria, not sure how strongly they are tracked
DHA said:
You, and any family members holding an eligible visa, must have complied with the conditions attached to your eligible visa when in Australia. This requirement applies for the whole period you hold the visa(s).
