A recent discussion which was conducted by ABC news on the current immigration rates and the issues being created, with the panel including the Former Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Bob Carr.
The link: -> https://in.news.yahoo.com/q-australia-apos-immigration-rate-231312019.html

@MysticRiver could this be a possible and valid reason for the low number of ITAs for the past 5 months??
The current government wants to slow down the process for a long time. That definitely has something to do with this rate.

Thought so. Similar news have been popping up now and then across the media for a couple of months, but didn't see anything with specific points. Those applicants who are not interested in researching their options and contacting the agents may suffer a bit, since as far as I know, the agents canvas them that they are eligible with 60 points and shall start the processing at the earliest and start talking the payment terms!!. Some of my friends have been into this trap recently, with just 60 and for pro-rata occupations! People need to start thinking for themselves.

Thank you for sharing the link. I have lodged EOI with 70 points under ICT Business Analyst. Considering the current round is at 75 points. Do you see any chance for 70 pointers soon? EOI 23-Nov-2017
EOIs with 75 and submitted in February is yet to be invited. So, I guess it'll take a bit more time for you, but cannot be sure how long.

@Dileep What do you mean by pro-rata occupations? Also, I have submittedmy EOI with 70 points. What are the chances in coming months?

What do you mean by pro-rata occupations?
The dept has categorized 8 occupations, as high demand ones (depending upon the number of applications received annually) These are the pro-rata occupations. In the year 2017-18 the following are the pro-rata occupations.

All other occupations are considered non pro rata occupations.

I have submittedmy EOI with 70 points. What are the chances in coming months?
It depends upon your occupation and DOE

My occupation is Software engineer (261313) and EOI date is 29 MArch ,2018

currently the ITAs are sent out for applicants with 75 and have been called till 22/02/18 as of March 7th. Apart from that 70 pointers till OCt 30th have been invited. So, it means you've almost 5 months backlog in 70 points plus the new 75+ point applications submitted. There's no way of predicting the reqd time, but you'll have to wait pretty long if the pace of invites is going to be the same for the balance of the year.

Dileep, are there any announcements regarding the next fiscal year? Will 189 visa system stay 100%? And regarding skills shortage - is the major change going to take place in June? I mean, they are updating the list all the time so I don't expect that really.. What do you think?
