Dear Experts,
It is mentioned that an applicant can only accept one EOI invitation. When does the acceptance of the EOI Invitation happen?
Is it
1. by the time the "Apply Visa" button in the EOI account is CLICKED or
2. by the time the Visa application has been submitted and paid?

Thank you so much in advance.

I think it's the 1st but if you don't pay the fee and effectively submit your application within the 2 months of invitation you might lose the deadline as well.

Once you receive an invitation they lock your EOI. You can no longer edit it.

Do you mean if I don't lodge/pay the visa application within 60 days, my EOI will not be unlocked and editable anymore
because I have already clicked the "Apply Visa" button? Means my EOI will be withdrawn?
Thank you.
Yes, after 60 days your EOI will be unlocked and you can update it to try another invitation. Alternatively you can submit another EOI.

If you don't apply within the 60 day period your EOI will be live again and I think at this time, you can edit it. But bringing about changes in the points may affect it.
By the way, what changes do you wish to bring in the EOI now?
Thanks @Dileep!
I inadvertently made a mistake in my work experience period which should be -2 years.
So, since I don't want to wait for 60 days to unlock my EOI, I have submitted a new EOI with the correct entries.
My concern is, I have already clicked "Apply Visa" button in my old EOI.
If my new EOI will be invited, can I still click "Apply Visa" button in my new EOI?
Will I not be violating the policy of accepting only 1 EOI Invitaion?
Please advise. Thank you once again.

If you claimed 2 years more than what you really have, you should definitely halt your application. Maybe you shouldn't have clicked on "Apply" at all but just leave it as it is to avoid further issues. Unless you have 8 years and claimed 10. This shouldn't affect your overall points although it's still incorrect information and maybe you can update DIBP once you apply. But I think it'd be best just to ignore the current EOI and go for a new one instead.

I believe if you don't pay within 60 days, it'll lapse anyway. And if you now submit another EOI, that EOI will be considered for a new invitation. You can double check with DIBP though.

Just for your information, you don't need to update your EOI for minor mistakes unless you overclaimed any point.

P.S: Please do not post same thing in multiple places @BrightStar

Thank you for your responses @thepurist and @MysticRiver!
Apologies for posting the same thing in multiple place. I will just continue this thread.

I have a total of 10+ Years experience in the same occupation but when I follow ACS assessment (-2 years), I only have 7 years, 11 months, 11 days experience at the time I got invited, and I just found out it was incorrect to put the exact employment start date after I have read your forum while starting to apply for the visa.

By the way, what does the following statement mean? I got it from EOI tip in the work experience section. Does it mean that you can ignore the years deducted by the assessing authority and input the actual dates of your work experience and mark as relevant?

IMPORTANT: Clients who have an opinion on their skilled employment from the relevant assessing authority should enter employment periods as specified on the letter from the assessing authority.

How do I contact DIBP? Can please provide their email to double check on my case?

Thank you.

IMPORTANT: Clients who have an opinion on their skilled employment from the relevant assessing authority should enter employment periods as specified on the letter from the assessing authority.
This exactly indicates what you have done wrong. This means that if your assessment authority gives an opinion about your relevant experience (e.g. ACS gave you the opinion that first 2 years of your experience is not point claimable), then you have to follow the ruling. If the assessment authority does not rule anything (ACS always does), only then you can claim the whole relevant experience.

So, I assume you claimed 15 points for 8 years of experience, am I correct? Then yes, you should allow this invitation to lapse as your visa application will be rejected if your CO notices this (a good chance that he will). You have to declare all experience before the "skill level met date" as non-relevant.

How do I contact DIBP? Can please provide their email to double check on my case?
Best way is to give them a call.

One more question:
If I will receive an invitation with my new EOI, can I click the "Apply Visa" button without waiting for my current EOI (where I have already clicked the "Apply Visa" button) to lapse?

Thank you.

Thank you @thepurist!
But going back to your answer to my first query:

It is mentioned that an applicant can only accept one EOI invitation. When does the acceptance of the EOI Invitation happen?
Is it
1. by the time the "Apply Visa" button in the EOI account is CLICKED or
2. by the time the Visa application has been submitted and paid?

EOI invitation acceptance happens by the time the "Apply Visa" button in the EOI account is clicked, right?

So, if I click the "Apply Visa" button in the new EOI, it would be accepting more than 1 EOI.

Your response is greatly appreciated.

As long as you don't create an ImmiAccount (it's the next step after clicking "Apply" on EOI) and don't assign the old EOI to your account, neither proceed with submission and payment, I think it will lapse anyway. But honestly I'm not quite sure.

Actually, I have already created an Immiaccount and completed the 17-page form but didn't submit. After creating a new EOI, I deleted the draft Visa application.

Thank you so much for response, @thepurist!

I think as long as you didn't submit your visa application (i.e. paid the fee), you should be fine. My personal opinion though.

Hi..I have received a visa invite already and have a mistake in my EOI for 189 ICT BA...I have marked one of my previous job as relevant in EOI, which was deducted by ACS for initial 4 year deduction....however my points don't change even if this job is not counted as I have 15 points even without this job...and I am a little worried on if the CO will treat this error adversely....so now my question is -

Can I lodge a new EOI with correct information while this visa invite is active?
Will I be able to receive a new invite on the new EOI?
or should I wait for this visa invite to expire and then edit the current EOI?

I believe since the error doesn't affect your points it wont be of any issue. But since you have a lot of points ;) you can even try creating another EOI before 23rd and expect an invite then too. But that would adversely affect a number of applicants in queue ethically.
I'd hope @MysticRiver provides a clearer picture about it.

Consider before posting:
  • Do not post the same thing in multiple places.
  • No personal contact and/or non-English phrase is allowed.
  • Always post in a relevant thread or open a new one.
  • Better to use the reactions in a post to congratulate/thank.
