Hello Everyone,

I got my ACS result today, my work experience is from June 2007 till date which also includes 1 yr of work experience from Australia but ACS has considered my work exp from Jun 2011 (deducted 4 yrs) and hence my points got reduced. Ideally I should get 15 points of offshore experience(more than 8 yrs) and 5 points for onshore experience(more than 1 year) but I am unable to do so as ACS didn't consider that even though my degree is considered as major. Could you please suggest me how shall I proceed?

Despite of having ICT major, does your degree closely related to the nominated occupation or no?

You may contact them based on your degree because if it was not closely related then it could have been 4 years deduction otherwise maximum 2 years deduction is required

I have dropped them a mail. Waiting for their reply.

This is what they have replied:

The assessor will always try to calculate the earliest skilled date for all applicants.

As your Bachelor degree was assessed as being closely related to the nominated occupation, you were required to demonstrate **EITHER** 2 years of experience in the last 10 years OR 4 years of experience in any time period. The rule applied to an application will be the one that gives the applicant the earliest date of meeting ACS requirements.

As you submitted your application in (02/20) if the rule of 2 years’ experience in the last 10 years was applied the skilled date would have been 17/02/2012
(02/2020 – 10 years = 02/2010 + the required 2 Years of closely related experience = 02/2012)

However when the 4 year in anytime period rule is applied the skilled date is 06/2011(8 months EARLIER)
Please refer Skill Assessment Guidelines for Applicants for further information.

So my total experience considered is 8.4yrs starting June 2011 in which I have 1 yr of Australian experience and 7.4yrs of Indian experience and in this situation I am getting only 10 points for experience outside Australia. Even after having experience it is not being considered. Please suggest what should I do.

Thanks,
Nitu

The deduction is legitimate, you were awarded the best possible outcome in your case, as explained by your CO. You can't expect anything more in this respect. 2 yrs deduction of last 10 years experience OR 4 yrs deduction of total experience is the best-case scenario for an ACS assessment. So, you were awarded the best possible outcome.

But while submitting EOI we get separate points for experience within Australia and outside Australia, however, ACS has considered it together and hence my no. of years experience outside Australia has come down to less than 8 yrs which in turn has reduced my points to 10 from 15.

Well, unfortunately, this is how it is.

Consider before posting:
  • Do not post the same thing in multiple places.
  • No personal contact and/or non-English phrase is allowed.
  • Always post in a relevant thread or open a new one.
  • Better to use the reactions in a post to congratulate/thank.
