I am currently single/unmarried and in the process of filing my EOI.

- If I get my invitation as a single applicant and before lodging my visa application my marital status changes to married, will I need skills assessment of my spouse or English proficiency proof?

- Considering the EOI was made as a single applicant and the application lodging is as a married applicant, what will be the effect here in terms of points/documentation or otherwise according to new rules in effect form 16/11/2019? Kindly advise.

(Above situation is considering the points changes happening 16th November onwards.)

Members kindly advise ....any inputs are welcome.

Thanks in advance!

If you get the invitaiton based on your single points, your points will be locked and nothing will be asked for your spouse except the language proficiency proof which is functional english. Rest, nothing will impact your application if are married after the invitation. But you need to provide proof of your relationship while adding your spouse to your application

Thanks for your response. This is exactly what I was hoping but then I found this (see attached). I guess things are not clear due to the new rule.
Because then people can take advantage of this point system - applying as a single and then adding a partner who may not be skilled.

I tried to search but I haven't found any official information yet.

Wow. That is quite strange and alarming though seems logical on their grounds but still it will impact a lot of applications as it will affect their decision making during the entire process. @MysticRiver how do you see this?

I think it's a mess so far, hence, waiting for DHA to publish official statements and rules. Personally, I think this is illogical because so far DHA has maintained that all the point claims need to be valid at the time of invitation, not grant.

Thanks for your replies @mohsinciddiki and @MysticRiver.

Yes, I really think the new rule is a bit confusing in this respect as a person cannot be expected to not marry until the grant process is completed. I think it would be best for me to wait a few days and hopefully, DHA will publish some official information regarding this for more clarity.

Please do post here if you guys come across any information. Thanks a ton! :)

Hi Guys,

Need some advise, as of now I have already lodge my EOI as a ICT business analyst and I am currently on 85 pts for 189 and 90 pts for 190. Would like to seek your guidance, as I am planning to get married next year and my potential partner also qualifies as ICT system analyst.
Seeking your advise on the following:
1. What will happen, if I add my partner post I receive my EOI? Will this impact my existing application in any circumstance?
2. Currently, the wait time for getting a PR visa post acceptance of EOI is 12 months, and if during this I submit intent to marriage can i add my partner into my existing partner on already accepted EOI? or how does intent to marriage works if I want to file PR for both of us together?

Thank you in advance.

I was in the same situation and according to what I have understood from the current rules; to answer your point 1: Yes. I believe EOI will be impacted because when you're going to submit your EOI it will be either as single or married/de-facto.
If you're single you get 10 points, you will be invited on basis of that. After that if you get married there are chances that your profile may get invalid/rejected because you no longer can prove the 10 points claimed as single.

As for point 2 : I don't have complete knowledge regarding this hence won't comment.

Hope it helps.

Also you can check the 1st notification, if it helps.
It's from the EOI profile dashboard

you can do that any time before getting the visa

yes as long as you have shown yourself married in EOI and are not claiming points for single but you need to provide extra proof of your relationship to avoid the red flags. They might think that your spouse is only marrying you for visa purpose. So you have to show legitimacy
