Good day,

I received my AITSl assessment which includes both steady and substitute teacher employment. It does not say how many years I'm being credit for total. Does anyone know how substitute teacher/teaching abroad for a month is converted with regards to years of teaching experience? For example, one year I have 90 days of substitute experience, but an entire school year has about 180 school days. Does that count as half a year or only 90/365? Thanks!

Good question, I would also like to know the answer! I think as long as you are paid for the whole year, you are good to claim whole year.

Can you clarify what you mean by 'paid for the whole year'? If I sporadically worked about 100 days throughout the school year, does that mean I can claim the entire year?

Oh no, I missed the idea of substitute teaching. I meant if you are employed for the whole year, that's the institute pay you a monthly/biweekly salary for the whole year, it shouldn't matter if the institution remains off for certain period, or you don't take class for every day.

But if it's just a casual/contractual employment for certain period, you just need to claim that period.

At the end, you'll be judged by the reference letter, contract letter etc. where your institution will write that Mr. X has worked for use from A to B period.

Thanks! So if I understand correctly it's less about actual days worked and more about how long you were employed.

How DHA would validate how many days you actually worked if your company paid your for 35 hrs/day and 365 days/month?

Because the number of days worked were listed on the AITSL assessment

From your posts, it seems like you worked on adhoc/contractual basis, so anyway you were not paid for the full year, right? So, this question is sort of non-relevant to your case anyway, right?

Yes it was adhoc but also part of a contract. I know that might be confusing so I'll attached the photo of the assessment to clarify. It's the bottom three years that are in question.

Hmm, I am not sure to be honest, but it seems like you can’t claim the whole year. But don’t take my word as reference, wait/seek for other replies, possibly an official one.
