Hi Mates,

I am planning to apply for Australian citizenship with my wife.
  • Is there a forum post which talks about the latest process and required documentation so that I can collate everything needed?
  • My wife is currently out of Australia and might be there till November. Can I start her application process with me or shall I wait for her to come back? I read on the DHA website that they should be here at the time of decision but at the same time, the residency is calculated after deducting the days outside Australia, hence the confusion.
Please guide.

If your wife has already completed the 4 years residency criteria before leaving, you don't need to worry about calculating residency again. While she can be outside Australia for lodging the application, but for interview/test, she has to come back but this can take several months to decide so I believe you are good to go

Hi @mohsinciddiki @MysticRiver
In the below section,

Since the age of 18, has the applicant lived or traveled outside of Australia?
YesNo

Give details of all countries that the applicant has lived in or traveled to since turning the age of 18, include:

Work or study outside of Australia
Holiday or leisure, including visits to the applicants country of origin
Business
Military deployment

We arrived in Australia 4.5 years back, should we really need to enter where we lived even before arriving in Australia or all the places after turning 18?
Should it be from the date of when we arrived in Australia?

E.g., After turning 18, I have been to another country for a short term (4 weeks) visit once and lived in my home country before and after that till I arrived in Australia. Should all of that be mentioned?

In the first page, for the below question:

Other passports and documents for travel
Does this applicant have any other passports or documents for travel? Other documents may include Titre de Voyage, PLO56, DFTTA or ImmiCards.

Do we have to mention our canceled passport details?

I understand that if you are outside, they will ask you to submit a penal certificate for the country you visited.
Im pretty sure if you stayed there for less than 3 months then you dont need to submit any.

Better to fill the entire details for security check purpose.

Only current active passports

Four quick questions.
1. I have uploaded the documents and realised later that they say that one document should be uploaded only once but some of my documents were uploaded twice as they belonged to different categories. After upload I am not getting an option to delete them. Will there be any problem?

2. When we upload front photo, we get a tool to realign the photo and crop it further. Does only the cropped photo shown on the confirm screen gets submitted or the original photo? I am guessing it's the cropped photo shown before confirm screen.

3. If the department have any issue with the documents or any query, do we get an email or we manually have to check messages after logging into the immi website from time to time?

4. As the timelines for citizenship currently seems to be around 18 months? Can we go on a trip outside country by the end of this year? Dowe have to inform department for that and if yes, how?

Please help.

No Issues

Should be cropped

As we are entering details of our spouse in the application (although she is not an applicant for citizenship for now) do we need to upload or marriage certificate?
Although I have not seen a section where it has been asked in the application.

  • No personal contact and/or non-English phrase is allowed.
  • Always post in a relevant thread or open a new one.
