If you migrated to Australia, have permanent residence, satisfy the residential requirements and are of good character you may be eligible for citizenship.

All applicants, including children under 16 years of age must be permanent residents at the time of application and also at the time we make a decision on your application.

To satisfy the residence requirements you must have:
  • 4 years lawful residence in Australia. This period must include 12 months as a permanent resident immediately before making an application for Australian citizenship
  • absences from Australia of no more than 12 months in total in the 4 years prior to application, including not more than 90 days in the 12 months immediately prior to application.
Lawful residence means residence in Australia on a temporary or permanent visa.

Hi MysticRiver,
Trust that you are good. Just need a clarification on the residency requirements for citizenship.
My wife and I got our 189 PR in August, 2016 and we both moved to Aussie in October, 2016. When is the earliest date that we can apply for citizenship...? Is it after 1 year of making port entry or 4 years of continuous stay in Aussie? Thank you.

You'll can apply for citizenship after at least 4 years from the date of your first entry. Among other criteria for eligibility, important one is to you have to be in Australia for 36 months (cumulative, not necessarily continuous stay) in 4 years immediately before your apply for citizenship. there are few variations as well, a detail can be found in the link below
