Different surname on passport and school documents

I am a divorcee single mother. My daughters custody is with me. My daughters passport needed renewal and for that my ex husband's passport details were required. But we could not get. Passport being an important document, I got my daughters surname changed to mine thru govt gazette and subsequently in Aadhar. Now I want to get it changed in passport . Is it possible ? She completed her school this year and all her school documents are with her dad's surname. Will that be a problem while applying to universities abroad?

Yes, there might be, better to keep it as per all the educational documents if possible. If not then you may get an affidavit stating that old and current name belongs to same person
