EOI submitted with 75 points (189) | 80 points (190) - 261313 Software Engineer

G'day,

Apologies if this has been asked or answered in other forum-

I have applied for software engineering (261313) in August 2019 with 75 points for 189 visa and 80 points for 190 (VIC).

Can claim another 5 points for partner English post Nov changes in place and 5 points for Experience by Sept next year.

Just trying to understand if there's any ray of hope for invite

To be honest, there is a queue for 80 right now. So 75 in 189 is a bit bleak (more than 1 year). I you are single you'll be able to claim 10 points.

90 points should have a high probability to get picked in Dec 2019, if not earlier !!

Spouse points is something most of them will gain (even single people get an extra 10 points). That might just render the increase less significant.

Hello Friend,
I am a little bit confused, you can claim partner points for 189 visas if she has competent English requirement and skill assessment in the same skill-shortage list as you are and secondly, you can claim 10 points if you wanna apply for 491 visas.

Though I am not yet read through the details about the new point system, I wouldn't be surprised if they offer more partner's point for 489 compared to 189 because the Australian government is pushing for regional migration.
