Once you submit your application, you will need to provide as many evidence as you can to support all the claims you made in your application. Your case officer will advise what documents you need to submit and give you a deadline. You can always ask for an extension of deadline with proper reasoning. If you fail to collect any document for valid reason, you need to contact your case officer. You need to show that you have tried your best to collect that document and that the failure is not due to your fault. If you manage to prove your point, your case officer may accept your position, but not guaranteed.

For health requirements and police clearance, I always recommend to wait until they ask for those. The reason is sometimes the process takes much time and those documents have some validity period. So you might end up doing those again in case they expires by the time you are asked to provide.

So, by the time your case officer is assigned, you can start collecting some documents that's almost certain that you need to provide. Please note that the requirement varies case to case and the list is not a comprehensive one (it never can be).

  • Form 80: You need to download the form from the website and fill it up. A huge amount of information is required, hence you can start filling it up.
  • Form 1221
  • Scan of all applicant's passport information page
  • Scan of all applicant's birth certificate and National ID (if available)
  • Scan of your English competency test result. You also need to submit the same for other applicants' unless you want to pay extra fees
  • Scan of your assessment result
  • Relationship certificates if you included any secondary applicant
  • Evidence of your employment. The document list includes but not limited to
    • Reference/experience letter in company letterhead
    • Payslips/salary statements
    • Bank statements of your salary account
  • Academic certificates and transcripts
  • Name change documents (if applicable)
    • Affidavit
    • Newspaper advertisement
  • NAATI accreditation (if you claimed points for credential community language)
  • Evidence of studying and living in regional Australia (if you claimed points for)
    • Utility Bills
    • Rental Agreements
    • Academic transcripts identifying the campus
  • Documents for partner's skill (if you claimed points for)
    • Skill assessment for your partner's nominated occupation
    • Partner's English competency test result
  • Health and Police clearance should be arranged when asked.

Dear MysticRiver,

Thanks again for another very informative thread!

Does the above docs need to be certified?
Since I will need to certify certain docs like passport, transcripts, reference letters etc for ACS evaluation, I might as well gather the rest and do it one shot

Nope, scan of original is required and enough, unless they change rule by the time you apply.

Do the payslips need to be a certified true copy since nowadays companies are going paperless and giving e-payslips instead

That's well enough. No need for certified copy or any signature.

Hi MysticRiver,

I just got to know from my bank that they only keep up to 7 years of data therefore they are unable to retrieve anything before that...
I lost some files when I shifted years back so I only have more recent bank statements...

I have not submitted my EOI yet, I'm currently collecting and preparing data

DIBP expects you to provide "as many documents as possible". So if you can't produce something for valid reason, just submit whatever you can and explain the reason if they asks.

Timeline missing
Mystic,

I just realized one minor item. I've started collecting any additional documentation to be translated (from portuguese to english) such as birth and marriage certificates, a few payslips etc.
As far I understood, I do not need to provide any certified copy of the originals (but the scan instead), but do you know if for any non-english document, do I need to certify (by local notary public) them first prior translating to english? Translator does not ask any certified copy, so I just want to make sure my translations would be ok (w/o certification mark)....
Please if you have any suggestions on this I would appreciate, I have a considerable concern about this.
Thank you!

DIBP said:
Documents not in English must be accompanied by accredited English translations.

So yes, there should be some seal/certified mark from the translator ...

this may sound silly, but here it goes... my national ID contains 2 foreign words... male and citizen...
should I send it for translation or should I just skip this doc and provide my birth certificate only?

Normally only birth certificate should suffice .. if they ask later, then you can provide NID.

Thanks MysticRiver,

By the way, I started uploading docs and encountered some uploading issues midway...
e.g. for employment, I managed to upload my reference letters, after the issue occurred (for some reason, suddenly the website wasn't able to recognize pdf format), the attach link is gone and I cannot continue to upload my payslips and bank statements
Is there anything that I can do now or I just have to wait for my CO to come out with a list of the remaining docs that he/she needs?

If this is some issue with there website (which is pretty common :) ), you can just try after some time. Otherwise you can email your CO about the issue, once assigned.

Consider before posting:
  • Do not post the same thing in multiple places.
  • No personal contact and/or non-English phrase is allowed.
  • Always post in a relevant thread or open a new one.
  • Better to use the reactions in a post to congratulate/thank.
