Hi, Im sorry that i dont know how to start a thread but..
I got my 186 nomination approved a few weeks ago and pit my complete application with supporting documents and medicals approved the next day. Im reading maybe I can apply for Medicare while waiting? I have a valid visa until 2019 and given a bridging visa if I need it..

I don't think you can apply for Medicare unless you have a qualifying visa granted. Or, are you asking about Health Clearance for visa purpose?

Oh, I was not aware that a person "applying for permanent residency - conditions apply" is also eligible. I couldn't find the conditions on that page though!

Hello. I’m moving to Australia in a few months with my PR visa. Are there specific vaccines I need to get? I wanted to do it before going in to AU but would appreciate if you can share any lead info on what’s the best thing to do - do it before migrating or after I arrive in AU? And what vaccines do I need to get? Thanks!!

Hmm.. so now that I've submitted the application for PR.. even though it is not approved yet, if I happen to be in AU I can apply for medicare? By showing this letter? - "Acknowledgement of application received for a Skilled - Nominated (subclass 190)

You need your receipt of payment, receipt of application and passport (check page for other docunebts). You go to the office and you get a paper medicard card and later the real one in the mail.visa Does not need to be approved, just paid. I did it myself

Thanks for the information. I am looking at https://www.medicare.gov/your-medicare-costs/paying-parts-a-and-b/pay-parts-a-and-b-premiums.html and saw that there is a Part A and Part B. Which one did you pay for? Did you pay for it because you are already based in AU?

Personally I am not in Australia yet, is there any benefit for me to get it prior to getting approval and moving to AU?

Thanks!

Ironical because I just acknowledged the fact in few posts earlier, though a couple of months old. Happens when you reply lots of posts in a quick time ;).

Russ, that medicare link you quoted is for United States. Here is the link for the one in Australia and relevant information.
