I have applied today for 489visa of south Australia under 233513 (Production and Plant engineer) with 80 points which include state points. I have below queries

EOI date - 11/01/2018
Applied 489 SA - 26/07/2018

1) How soon should I expect for invitation
2) after getting visa, within how many days/weeks I should have land in South Australia
3) My agent told me if I won't get Job in SA , I can request to case officer to change state ? Is that right ?

4) My wife is primary applicant and I am secondary applicant..So is it fine if I landed first and my wife can come after 6 months ?

5) how good chances are with 489 to get PR under 887?

6) my wife is still preparing for PTE to get 79 score and if we get are we still eligible for 189 visa ? Right now we have only 70 points

7) my agent told there are less invitation for mechanical and production with higher points as well so he suggested me to go for 489. Is this right decision ?

Thanks in advance ..

I also heard that
Edit: Only if you meant whether you can request to move inter-state after you move and spent a significant time in the sponsoring state searching for a job. Thanks @JanithaR for pointing out :).

My wife is primary applicant and I am secondary applicant..So is it fine if I landed first and my wife can come after 6 months ?
Yes, that should be alright.

how good chances are with 489 to get PR under 887?
There is no uncertainty involved with 887, you just need to fulfill certain criteria.

my wife is still preparing for PTE to get 79 score and if we get are we still eligible for 189 visa ? Right now we have only 70 points
Anyone can apply for 189 EOI if he/she scores 65. However, the chance of getting an invitation for 189 increases with points.

my agent told there are less invitation for mechanical and production with higher points as well so he suggested me to go for 489. Is this right decision ?
Your skill is a high demand skill and right now cut off is 75 for 189. It's your decision whether you want to wait few more rounds or just go for 489. If you are not in a hurry, there is a chance that you can get an invitation for 189 in few months down the line. But of course, nobody can guarantee that.

I also heard that.
A case officer is assigned once you have the invite from SA. And you mean to say that if someone applies for 489 SA, halfway down the process of getting the grant you can switch states?

Certainly not! I reckon he asked whether he can request DHA/sponsoring state to allow him to move inter-state if he fails to get a job, of course, a significant time after his grant (and move to the state).

Now that I read what @ajay22mum said again, it makes total sense as opposed to what I misunderstood.

So that means after the grant and moved to SA we can keep communications with our CO and there's a chance of making a request to move states after showing enough proof that you failed to land a sustainable job. That's very good to know that they'll allow that. I've been looking into 489 SA for a while and comparatively the jobs are scarce which is not enticing even if I get a good chance to get invited.

Well, after the second read, I got confused about what he exactly meant :p. If he meant what I understood, his word selection was not proper. If he meant what you translated, of course, that's absolutely impossible.

I don't think you need to keep communicating with your CO, rather it should be anyone from the state department or DHA. As I have not personally seen anyone succeed with that, just heard from some distant source, I don't exactly know how and if it works.

Thank you @MysticRiver for explaining in detail.
But I have already applied for 189 as well in Jan11,2018 with 65 points . Later I got additional 5 points of partner skills and EOI updated with 70 points in June2018.

If I stay with 189 visa which date should I consider ? Jan or June ? I am also preparing PTE to get 79 score , so once I get it I will be at 80 points

Current Date of affect is Nov2017,so guessing I still have chance for 189 visa with 70 points ?

Every time your total point changes, your effective date changes as well. So June is your new black.

If you are confident that you will get a 189 invite then I recommend you wait.
2. What are the next steps if I accept the invitation? How long will it take to get visa ?
As usual, the next steps would be submitting documented proof of claimed points and getting health check-ups and police check-ups done.
3. My wife is primary applicant ..So she have to come with me in starting or I can go alone ?
The dependants can go first on 189 and 190 visas. I'm not quite sure how that works for 489.
4. Is there funds required in account for visa ?
I don't think they strictly check for proof of funds. It is more of a guideline rather than a requirement.
Although, I got to know of a case recently where proof of funds was asked or rather how much funds are available by the time of initial entry, and this guy completely missed that email and by the time he saw and replied it had been over 14 which was the deadline to reply to that email. And he didn't get his visa.
5. Which city in SA would you suggest us for IT(System Admin) and Mechanical engineer for good job opening ?
IT, Adelaide. Mechanical engineer, no idea.

Well, Mechanical Engineer can have plenty of options in South Australia, specifically Adelaide but IT don't much to do in South Australia even in capital city Adelaide. So references can work better in case of IT jobs

That should be true for 489 as well. Once visas are granted, each individual has the same right and no inter-dependency (until 887 application is lodged).

For 489 visa of South Australia state sponsored -

Does any know if one needs to show any funds prior to VISA application?

- What is the amount to be shown per person *(spouse & self)?

- Does the evidence have to be funds in my bank account or
- can it be in the form of assets or
- Is credit card, car, gold , accepted as proof?
- can it be the balance in account + assets?

- If money is to be shown, does the required amount have to be in the account for a certain history say last 3 months or last 6 months?

- is dependent spouse account can be shown as proof ?

Hi folks

I have applied today for 489 visa of South Australia under 232412 (Illustrator) with 75 points which include state points. I have below queries

EOI date - 27/09/2018

1) How soon should I expect for invitation
2) The occupation is showing "low availability" - so will it affect my chances
3) My wife is primary applicant and I am secondary applicant..So is it fine if I landed first and my wife can come after 6 months ?

Please let me know. Would be of great help!

Thanks in advance ...

It means as it sounds - a limited number of invitations will be issued for this skill.

Should not be an issue.

Hi all,

after 167 days I can see my visa file status changed to "initial assessment"
while lodging my file I'd uploaded all documents including my birth certificate and marriage proof, though CO asked for same document again. I dont know why ?

is CO needed all required information at one time or they can ask any more proof after submitting this? how does verification done at backend? did they check all documents and ask for final evidence or one by one? anyone faced this before ?

how many days will take now to get grant letter?

@MysticRiver please suggest your views ...Thanks in advance
