2017-2018 Invitation trends for cutoff points and date of effect (2017-2018)

DIBP releases minimum point and visa date of effect statistics for each pro-rata (high demand) occupations separately. For the rest of the occupations, they disclose the combined cut-off points and date at each invitation rounds.

While minimum point statistics maintain stable trend, the erratic behavior of the visa date of effect often creates lots of confusion. Unfortunately, we can't help anything regarding that, but in this post, we try to list down the invitation statistics in the chronological order. Hopefully, it'll help us to find a pattern, if exists.

In the below charts, the numbers inside the callouts denote the index of the invitation round during the year 2017-2018. The values in X-axis and Y-Axis are self-explanatory.

I read an update in one of agent's FB page saying that they have invited for 489 Family visa in pro-rata occupations.
It is highly impossible under current situation i think.

Theoretically you are right as DIBP claims they invite 489FS only if there is not enough applicants for 189, which is quite unusual for HD occupations as you said.

However, in las few days I was also surprised to see many 489 invitations (not in HD occupations though) which surprised me as well because, albeit not in HD, but I haven't seen lots of 489FS invitations at 60 points in recent past.

Hi,

I've recently submitted my EOI under 232111 ARCHITECT with 65 points. I'm not wondering when I will receive my invitation as I'm not in a rush. I'm just wondering whether will the invitation be considered based on the nominated occupation?

For example, if i'm the highest ranking EOI under the nominated occupation, will I have a higher chance of getting an invitation than someone with the same point as me but have more higher EOIs than him/her under his/her nominated occupation.

Thank you in advance.

The number and cutoff point for invitation varies with the occupation. It is common that some occupation receives invitations at 60/65 points whereas, in some other occupations, applicants are waiting with 70 points or higher.

However, if you are the top ranked candidate in your skill as you hypothetically assumed, you are most likely going to get an invitation.

Thanks MysticRiver!

But for the first 3 round of this year's invitation, they still haven't invite those below 70 points. Does this means that for all occupation listed there are EOIs above 70 points? or did they changed the policy to not separate the invitations based on occupation?

In first 3 rounds, no occupations got an invitation below 70 points in subclass 189. However, on the 4th round (the result is yet to be published), there are reports of below-70 invitations in some occupations.

I have read elsewhere that non pro rata occupations with 60 points are unlikely to receive invite in this whole financial year due to the drop in invites by half. What Is your opinion on this.

I find it very unlikely that no occupation (among non prorata) will get an invitation in whole one year.

Hi,

I'm new around here but I think the work that you all do helping each other is amazing! It's helping me a lot to understand the entire process. However, I still have a basic question. I'm an Environmental Engineer from Brazil with 6 years of experience but I don't know if my qualification gets 10 or 15 points in the test since I don't know if it fits into "a Bachelor qualification, from another educational institution that is of a recognised standard" or "An award or qualification recognised by the relevant assessing authority for your nominated skilled occupation". Can anyone help me figure it out? I was accredited by Engineers Australia in May as Environmental Engineer if this information helps.

Thanks!!!

In your EA assessment, what did EA commented about your qualification?
In my EA Assessment, they put my AQF Level as 'bachelor degree'. I've found out that this entitles me to earn 15 points. So, now I have 65 points in total. I hope I can get invited soon with this score.

Thanks for your help!

You are right. You get 15 points if your AQF level is mentioned as Bachelor equivalent.

Hi Lucas,
I'm also Brazilian and chem eng but applying as engineering technologist. I also got 65 points and EOI submitted two weeks ago. Let's hope that we can get ITA.
Cheers.
