Congratulations @RapB! We hope we will see you here in future as well, sharing your experience of new start and helping other :).
Hello MysticRiver,

Sure, I will be around here. First, need to go through the other blogs in this forum, related to settling in Australia. I am contemplating, should I just resign from my current job now, my notice period is 2 months. Also, I have to learn new skills for Australia job market, heard that finding a job in similar skill could be a challenging in down-under.

Is there anything such as, best month to be in Australia for landing a job!

There is nothing like best month for the job, it's just the present market demand.

Usually people go on leave in Dec and Jan, so definitely it is not the best time to go there..
Plan in Sep/Oct or after Feb onwards..

PRSeeker, Thanks for the inputs. I have to give 2 months notice period and have to broaden my skill sets a bit for Australia in those 2 months.

I guess, sooner is better cause our arrival date in Australia will be considered later for granting citizenship.

Generally, the best months are June, July, August for job hunt. Because, this is the beginning of financial cycle and budgets are being approved.

Hi,

Agree, those should be the best days to be for job hunt. But then, people with good time in hand for IED, will prefer to make the first entry and do the job search with their first entry.

Let's hope that job market is well and kicking.

Few skills are always in demand and one can get job anytime. But problem is interview process which usually takes 1-2 months.
If there comes any break in that like Christmas, it further increases.
So it is better to plan to move before the holiday season starts.
One of my friend got offer in Oct, 2016 and then his hiring was put on hold.
Eventually he could join from Feb, 2017.

I work with Aus teams and most of people take break from 20 Dec to 20 Jan. For companies, it is extra cost as nothing much can be done for Knowledge transfer and job role during this period.

Rest it is everyone's own prerogative to make decision.

Does this mean if I go to Australia in Oct 2017 and come back within a week and then migrate 6 months later then for citizenship Oct 2017 will be considered and not April 2018?

Thanks mate, that's quite an insigh. Definitely, it does require more sole searching. How are you gearing up for the job search?

My ex-company has office in Sydney and my current big MNC also has office there..
My first preference to move via any of them.. But it is not as easy as said.
Otherwise I'll search like rest of us.
I am applying jobs via job sites since long time but I know until I get PR, nothing will be fruitful.

I suggest to study the job market and necessary skills required. And then learn about them.
Learning anything outside India by trainer is very expensive.
The main fight is to land in to first job there.

Mate, How's the response when you are applying for jobs while overseas, they must be asking for a valid work permit, I guess!

Once, I applied for a job in the health department. They replied back, but asking for the work permit. However, not sure if the companies in Australia can wait until we serve our 1 or 2 month notice period. I have seen post in other forums that one needs to be in Australia for securing a job, any insight on that!

Yeah, about the training, there are lot of web training available in India. I have no choice but to go through web training, as I am already an expat in UAE.

All the best mate

I am also based in Singapore for past 4.5 yrs and Aus is quite near from here.
Frankly I got only one response in which consultant said they would check with client.
And then no response from them.

But I still keep applying there. I got job same way in Singapore. I kept applying via job sites for years. I have given few interviews in Hong Kong via phone and ***.

You can get job while being offshore. My one friend got it while being in Singapore. It depends on company.
If you are lucky enough, you might land there with offer in hand which is best I believe.

Yes mate, totally agree with you. It's best to land with a job. You know, middle East is completely different and it can put anyone in their comfort zone, while other outside market keeps evolving and changing. It's the same case with me. So, I plan to do some web trainings from India.

Surely, depending on the job search response while away from Aussie, I will take my stand. If nothing, then last resort would be to onboard the ship, like others☺

Mate, any idea on the current and near-future job market in Australia. Since, we are far away from Aussie, we knew so little about the economy and especially the local job sector.

Although, LinkedIn and seek can give some hints. But, is it true that manpower supply is constantly increasing while the jobs are less. I had heard about this quite often in past few years...

Job competition is every where. And it is getting more and more competitive.
Jobs are every where, we just need to right skills n experience to match them.
I see most of jobs are contractual but good paying.

I hope for you to get grant soon. That way, you can plan early settlement☺
Btw, what's your skill set, I am an IT consultant!
Thanks for wishes. I am in software automation testing.
I am planning to go back to India next year to stay few months with family n friends before moving to Aus.
After moving to Aus, it wont be easy to travel back to India.

Yes, I agree with you, moving to a new country requires a lot of settling down. We sometimes work on HP ALM software!

Not sure, if there's an option to send a private message here. I was thinking of connecting on FB or something like that....
