Hi everyone,

I am new to this forum and hope someone can help me with my query.

I am currently on 489 visa and in 5 months that is in June will be eligible for 887.
If I have to get married at this time, as per my knowledge, my spouse can apply for subsequent entry 489. But considering the Covid situation neither I can go to my home country for marriage nor my partner can come to Australia. So if I apply 887 visa and then get married (assuming that international flights will resume in couple of months), which subclass of visa would my partner be able to apply? Is it still subsequent entry 489?

Thanks in advance

Better to apply for 887 and add your partner. If granted, your partner may also get 887 which is a PR and can travel during current restrictions

Hi, did you get it resolved? I have similar situation. My fiance’s condition is getting completed in January 2022 and he will apply for 887. Once applied ., can we get married while 887 application is in process and then add the partner ? I read that we cannot add family member to 887 after the application is applied. Which visa will i get?

Yaa, 887 doesn't allow to add family members after lodgement. You have to apply for partner's visa after 887 is approved.

Need some clarity on my situation..
I applied for 887 for myself (single) in August 2021. My 489 is valid until Jan/2023.
If I get married now or before 887 visa grant, which visa should I apply to bring my wife?
And which Visa should I apply after 887 visa grant?
And how long is the processing time for spouse visa in either case as above?
Is there any other visa I can apply for my wife when the long term visa application is being processed?

By the way, in the immi portal there is no option to upload form 1221 only form 80. On the immigration 'website' , under application check list they have mentioned both forms as a requirement. I am not sure if I should provide the same or not.

I have previously provided 1221 for my 489 visa.

You should follow the checklist in your visa application. The list in the website sometimes take tome to be updated.

As far as I know, both Form 80 and Form 1221 is now on demand basis only - i.e., required in some cases when CO explicitly asks.

Hi All,
Seeking some advise on my case. I am facing the same situation, I applied for 887 visa in December 2021 and going to get married in May 2022. I am planning to bring my fiancé on a visit visa to Australia. What are my option to keep her with me in Australia without sending back to my country?
Thanks for the advise
Hi Gamage,

I’m seeking answers to the same question, did you get help on this?

TIA
