Hello mystic river,
I went through the information in the link you gave me, I have 2 questions please:
1- other names/ spellings: I will add my current marital family name and my previous marital family name. ( I was married before and divorced so I should be addind this name too, right?)
2- I will mention in the previous countries of residence that I have lived in Dubai for almost 5 months
Just making sure :) thank you

Yes, for both the cases.

You need to list down all the "other names" (than your current one) you were known so far (if any), that of course does not include unofficial names (e.g. nick name etc.) that only few of your friends & family used.

Ok, same issue applies to my husband. He was named khoder khoder, and then legally they changed the name to khoder khoder el Merhabi. We have this name change included in his birth certificate under the remarks section. Do we need any other name change proof? And what should we specify as the reason for his name change? His case is that the family name registered before was his grandfather's name not family name and later they added the family name.

Just mention what ever is true. I know such cases, normally there should be some kind of legal document (like Affidavit or anything). If there is any such thing, just include that as well.

Also, in case it is just correction (and thus corrected in his all documents), you can just give that plain explanation. Affidavit is required mainly when you have different documents under different names (and so you need some legal doc mentioning these two names are of same people).

The name was changed in 1997, so almost 20 years ago. All his documents are in his current name, it was just a correction. However I will see if we can get anything from the court. I hope this does not delay the submission of my application.
Thank u very much mystic river.

If it is mere correction, and all the documents are aligned, nothing should be required. Like I said, the court document is mainly required if you have different documents under different name.

Also, if I were you, I'd have submitted the application first. Because you will have minimum 2-5 weeks till your case officer will be assigned, then you will have further 1 month for the documents to be submitted. Also, in case you have some delay (like delay in court or whatever), you can always ask for extension.

Just my $0.02, I think you are being over-cautious :) .... not that it'll do any harm, but definitely the process is not that rigid :).
