A detailed list of all the occupations and their respective invitations per round is listed in the next post. No invitations will be sent for the occupations that reached 100% of their ceiling. The ceiling is reset to zero on the 1st of July every year.

of course the * stands for pro-rata.
@MysticRiver was about to ping you about the release of July results. But you got there before me this time. :D

I don't think that this time they'll reach anywhere near the ceiling. It's quite similar to last years' ceiling which was not touched at all!

Why is this so?
Just a hunch. The ceilings are quite similar to that of last year, and we all know what happened! Also, since they've raised the basic point requirements to 65, it gets tougher for a whole bunch of guys, bringing the bracket of applicants much lesser than last years' I guess.

Hi @MysticRiver

This July round, the number of invitation was 1000, Do you think the number of invitations will be the same for August round, or there will be 1300 or 1600 invitations?

The number of invites may vary depending on the number of applications processed by the dept.

Skillselect has said that the number of invitations will be the same in all rounds, effective 11 August 2018.

I meant why didn't they reach the ceiling?
Am not sure of the exact reason, but these are my guesses.
  • There was a huge backlog of visa applications to be finalized and this resulted in the lowering of number of invites per round.
  • The dept was not able to clear the backlog as they had expected and the decrease in the number of invites, continued throughout the FY 2017-18.
  • Now, they have cleared many pending applications, (an arrived fact since many March applicants have been receiving grants now) and still the number of invites in July was only 1000 just a tad higher to 600 which was followed from Nov 2017 till June 2018

Just a hunch. The ceilings are quite similar to that of last year, and we all know what happened! Also, since they've raised the basic point requirements to 65, it gets tougher for a whole bunch of guys, bringing the bracket of applicants much lesser than last years' I guess.
Dileep, I also agree with you, but if they continue to invite 1000 per month they would end up inviting just 12000 which is even lesser than last FY.
Let's just hope they would increase it to at least 1500 from Aug onward.
