What do you mean by reassessment requirements? It should be same as assessment requirement if you are eligible for a reassessment.

If you want to reassess, it should be same cost. But if you want to appeal an outcome, it should be less.

okay. Mine initial assessment was done in 2015 as Engineering technologist, but due to the pro-rata status of the occupation, I am thinking of assessing again. So in this context, which applies, is it appeal an outcome or assessment?

If you need to update your job description etc., that should be a new assessment. If you think the document you submitted before should be enough for the new occupation, maybe you don't need a new assessment, but you should contact EA first.

Hello!

According to EA you can't. Engineering Technologist is Engineering technologist.
Assessment of your degree is base on the 3 Accords, Washington, Sydney and Dublin Accord and accordingly you will be assess as Engineers, Engineering Technologist or Technicians respectively. So it is your qualifications that determines the assessment.
It is sad to see the confusion. The confusion of the requirements of public sector and skillselect. The two categories, Engineers and Engineering Technologists are widely misunderstood. The differences are poorly recognized.

In fact in the job market both occupations can perform jobs of each other vice versa. There is really little to differentiate between the two. Without a doubt, there is an enormous overlap in both their profession. There is a distinction between the two yet with no real difference.
Having said that it becomes abstract to really differentiate the two.

This situation is actually reflected in our job market in Australia, hardly anyone advertise for an Engineering Technologist. What the employer wants are those with degree in Engineering with of course their related work experiences if any. In today's market, The employer called them "engineers", and these "Engineers" includes Engineering Technologists.

So categorizing Engineering Technologist under "other engineering professionals" shows that Skillselect actually don't know or failed to truly appreciate the needs and requirements of each discipline and occupation of Engineering Technologist for the nation.

I have a different opinion/experience. I am a chemical Engineer but was given ET because I did not write my career episodes well and my experience was not solely chemical engineering roles

I was assessed recently as Telecommunications Engineer in Washington accord after completing my masters degree, however my state has only Engineering Technologist in state nominations list. I have submitted another to asses as Engineering Technologist as my BEng is qualified under Sydney accord. EA refuse to assess my Australian work experience because it s already assessed as professional engineer. Is it correct?

If your profile matches with a professional engineer, EA will assess you as pro.

They belong to different skill code and hence have different trend of invitation.

Hello guys im a new member,

My name is Ali from lebanon currently living and working in qatar, long story short i am civil engineer and i applied for skilled migration to australia. Unfortunately, Engineers Australia assessed me as an engineering technologist and accordingly i have applied for visa 189 and 190, until i was surprised to check myself that recently the states withdrew engineering technologst from their occupation list, Im facing problems with my agency because they are not professional. My query is i managed to get a private email response from my assessor (it's been a year though) stating why my career episodes were weak and he pointed them out in details do you recommend me to apply for a reassessment maybe i get a chance to convert it to a civil engineer and if so can i still use the same supporting documents? i have attached his comment, or do i just be patient and wait for the independent visa 190. Kindly advise.

I have 65 points: Age 29 - (30 points)
PTE/IELTs 7.0 band - (10 points)
Work Expereince 5 years (10 points)
Bachelors degree (15 points)

Only if you can address the issues raised by your assessor. You can use the same supporting documents but seems like your CDR needs to be revamped to make it suitable for the job code you are seeking for.

I'd say, with 65 points, you are facing a long queue in 189. I'd suggest you improve your score, if possible.

Well that technically means i will have to wait till end of next year to have 8 years of work experience to get the extra 5 points. Sadly im still a bachelor so couldnt obtain the 5 points for partnership? I am just currently in the status of just wanting to go to australia and work there regardless of what visa. Is there any other way?

You can try to find some company who's willing to sponsor you for TSS.

I did ask my agency about it he told me tasmania is the only territory that is nominating enginering technologist for Subaclass 489- Skilled Regional (Provisional) Visa. I will do it and they are asking for alot other paper works to do i just hope this time it will work after the effort.

Oh, that might be true, but you should do a bit of check yourself in the official websites of different states.

Consider before posting:
  • Do not post the same thing in multiple places.
  • No personal contact and/or non-English phrase is allowed.
  • Always post in a relevant thread or open a new one.
  • Better to use the reactions in a post to congratulate/thank.
