Hello!
I will like to know the requirements for reassessment of my Engineering technologist assessment to Chemical Engineering and also I will like to know the cost.
Thanks
According to EA you can't. Engineering Technologist is Engineering technologist.
Assessment of your degree is base on the 3 Accords, Washington, Sydney and Dublin Accord and accordingly you will be assess as Engineers, Engineering Technologist or Technicians respectively. So it is your qualifications that determines the assessment.
It is sad to see the confusion. The confusion of the requirements of public sector and skillselect. The two categories, Engineers and Engineering Technologists are widely misunderstood. The differences are poorly recognized.
In fact in the job market both occupations can perform jobs of each other vice versa. There is really little to differentiate between the two. Without a doubt, there is an enormous overlap in both their profession. There is a distinction between the two yet with no real difference.
Having said that it becomes abstract to really differentiate the two.
This situation is actually reflected in our job market in Australia, hardly anyone advertise for an Engineering Technologist. What the employer wants are those with degree in Engineering with of course their related work experiences if any. In today's market, The employer called them "engineers", and these "Engineers" includes Engineering Technologists.
So categorizing Engineering Technologist under "other engineering professionals" shows that Skillselect actually don't know or failed to truly appreciate the needs and requirements of each discipline and occupation of Engineering Technologist for the nation.
