Hello All.

I included 2 of my family members of age 32 and 39 as non-migrating dependents in my 189 VISA application. Assessment of my case is in progress. I want to remove them from my application now.

I've following queries:
1- How can I remove them from my Visa application?

2- Should I need to send documents to DIBP showing evidence of their dependency like financial documents, birth certificates etc? even if they will be removed from application?

3- If answer to q2 is yes, why DIBP will need it ?

4- What will be the impact of removing non-migrating dependents on the decision of main Visa applicant?

5- I'm financially supporting them, If I remove them from my application , will DIBP still consider them my dependent for any future Visa application?

6- Can I support them financially when I will be in Australia?

7- If answer to q6 is yes, after how much time can I support them financially?

8- How can these 2 dependents migrate in future?

9- After how much time after arriving in Australia can I apply for them?

10- Can these 2 dependents be citizens of Australia when they reach there and how?

Thanks and Best Regards.

1- How can I remove them from my Visa application?
If they are not depending on you at present, you can request your CO to remove them citing the reason. If not, then you can't. The question ask for an information not a decision, so it's not your choice. You are suppose to give correct answer.

If the are your dependent, you have to mention them no matter they want to migrate or not, now or in future.

2- Should I need to send documents to DIBP showing evidence of their dependency like financial documents, birth certificates etc? even if they will be removed from application?

3- If answer to q2 is yes, why DIBP will need it ?
Only your CO can confirm this. Such situation is not very common and as per my knowledge there is no written document for such case. Once you request your CO, then they can advise.

4- What will be the impact of removing non-migrating dependents on the decision of main Visa applicant?
Again, it is not your choice to remove them. You can only remove them if they are not your dependent. In future if they become your dependent, then you can apply for their PR with proper supporting documents of their dependency.

5- I'm financially supporting them, If I remove them from my application , will DIBP still consider them my dependent for any future Visa application?
If you are supporting them, you can't remove them. If you successfully remove them, DIBP won't consider them your dependents. If you want to apply for their PR as your dependent in future, you have to prove that they become dependents at some point afterwards.

6- Can I support them financially when I will be in Australia?

7- If answer to q6 is yes, after how much time can I support them financially?
Whether or not you send money to your home, is not DIBP's concern. So this question is irrelevant.

8- How can these 2 dependents migrate in future?

9- After how much time after arriving in Australia can I apply for them?
Answered in Q 5. There is no time constraints.

10- Can these 2 dependents be citizens of Australia when they reach there and how?
Anyone with a PR can apply for citizenship after 4 years if they meet certain criteria.

I am also in a kind of same situation, can some one please help.

There was an option called update us, with that I mentioned that I have given my family member names by mistake and asked them to remove it. It generated FORM 1023 and attached to my application.
Will come to know only after a CO is assigned I guess.

Please share your input, if anyone has come across the same situation and got their grant

Thanks and Regards
Venkatesh

I also made the mistake and I updated the info using the update us tab and they generated 1023 and attached to the form. Did they update you anything after that? Has your assessment started?

Thanks for your time.
