Hi,

I have a superior score in PTE(90 in all sections) and have also assessed my skills by ACS. I have a bachelors from India and a masters from the US. My work experience outside Australia is 8.5 years. In addition to that my wife has a proficient score in PTE and has also assessed her skills by ACS. My occupation code is Systems Analyst 261112 MLTSSL and my wife's code is Analyst Programmer 261311 MLTSSL. I am applying EOI for visa subclass 189 points based stream and after entering the details I see that the total points are 75 instead of 80 as per my calculation. My age is 34 and my wife is 32. I wanted your feedback and check if there is something that I am missing while filling out skill select. I think the total points should be 80 but it shows 75. Appreciate your help/input.

Your points breakdown:

Age: 25
PTE: 20
Study:15
Partner: 5
Experience: 15 (but have you deducted the experience that was used for ACS assessment? Also all experience needs to be in last 10 years).

Log in to Skill select. There is an option of EOI points breakdown. Download that and check where your points are not according to your calculation.

Thanks Vegemite20. I started working in july 2007 and left my job in april 2012(4 yr 9 months) to pursue Master in the US. I joined a full-time job in july 2014 and at the time of ACS evaluation I had 4 yr 9 months + 4 yr = 8 yr 9 months of experience. So I'm not sure where I'm losing 5 points in skill select.

I'm referencing https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/Trav...upporting/Pages/skilled/the-points-table.aspx to check my points.

Your job started in 2007 and I have already mentioned experience is only counted for the last 10 years (2008-2010), so you automatically lose 1 year. Moreover, ACS also deducts experience for assessment and that deducted is not usable for points.
Download your points breakdown and you'll see you are getting points for 5-7 years which equals to 10 points.

Thanks! Yes, I guess that might be the reason I'm losing 5 points. When I login to skill select, I dont see an option to download the points breakdown. Are you referring to the generic points table ( https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/Trav...upporting/Pages/skilled/the-points-table.aspx) or do you get to see points specific to the applicant in skill select?

Thanks again for your help.

No worries. Even with 75 points, you will get the invitation in either January or February round. In October's round, 75 points with EOI date 20/07/2018 have got invitations.

ACS also deducts experience for assessment and that deducted is not usable for points.

This is very important, make sure you don't claim points for experience prior to ACS's skill level met date. In your ACS assessment, there should be a link like "The following experience after XXXX/XX is considered to equate ........", and you can't claim points for experiences prior to XXXX/XX.

EOI does not cross check ACS assessment automatically, so whatever you claim in EOI, it'll blindly trust you. But you'll be in trouble at the visa processing stage when a CO will double check the validity of your claim.

I just checked how the system will work :p .
i can claim 65 points only from January 2019, when I qualify 5 points for my experience in AUS.
Hope this will be automatically updated in EOI.
