Invitation statistics for high demand occupations

Due to large numbers of EOIs being received for the below occupations, DIBP decided to invite on a pro rata basis for these occupations over the 2016-17 programme year. However, this process can be changed if situation demands. SkillSelect first allocates available places to Skilled – Independent (subclass 189) visas and then remaining to Skilled – Regional (subclass 489) (Provisional – Family Sponsored) visas. If all places are taken up by subclass 189 visas then there will be no invitations issued for subclass 489 visas in these occupations.

Hi,

Being in a pro rata basis means that you'll need to have more points to receive an invitation letter?

I'm an Mechanical Engineer and I have 60 points. Can you opine what are my chances?

Regards,
Claudia

That does not necessarily mean, in theory, that you have to have higher points to get an invitation. But in practice, only the high demand occupations are put under pro-rata basis, which means there are lots of applications for that occupation and the number of invitation in each round is made limited. So most likely, the invitation will be harder (but not impossible) to get with low points.

@MysticRiver Can you please explain, does this means the Anzo code mentioned above for Industrial, Mechanical and Production Engineer is filled up completely? OR DIBP will keep on inviting candidates on Pro-Rata basis till its caped?

No, it means there will be limited invitation in each round till the ceiling is filled up. So, you can expect the number of invitation per round will be decreased. This is done to avoid a scenario where a high-demand occupation ceiling is filled up within first few months of the whole year.

Whether or not an occupation ceiling is filled up, can be found here, as you can see it is 84.28% filled up for the mentioned occupation, still 242 invitations to go. This occupation (2335) is put into high demand list from last round (frankly I am surprised why they waited till 84.28% filled up!), so from last round, you can see a reduction in number of invitations.

Hi Mystic,
I have two doubt about my PR application, before going for the doubts here are few information about my visa processing so someone will get an idea about processing time.

I have applied for Skilled Independent visa 189 on 22 July 2016 and got invitation on 5 Aug 2016.
Applied and got my bridging visa on 9 November 2016.
CO requested for more documents on 14th December 2016.
I have uploaded all the documents on 16th January 2017 and requested to include my wife.
Got the receipt for including secondary applicant on 2nd February 2017.
Got mail from case officer for more document for secondary applicant (my wife) on 8th February 2017.
I have uploaded all the document including PTE exam result to avoid vac2 payment on 21st February 2017.
Until now I didn't get any reply form case officer, and status shows as Assessment in progress.
Do you think I can do anything now or waiting patiently until I get PR.

My first doubt is,
1. Also can you please can i apply for bridging visa second time to travel outside Australia to visit my family. Does it affect my processing time.

2. Until including my wife it was shown as 189 in my visa and now it showing as 189, 190, 489. Does this difference affect my visa processing time.

Thanks in advance for everyone who spent their precious time in reading my and replying.

Thanks,
Naren

You should wait.

Not sure what did you mean by applying for a 2nd bridging visa. You current bridging visa should be valid till your visa decision.

Until including my wife it was shown as 189 in my visa and now it showing as 189, 190, 489. Does this difference affect my visa processing time.
Well, I am not sure why it listed 3 types now. Both of you should be on 189, as you have included her before your grant.

Thanks for your fast reply,

The bridging visa has been issued only for 3 months with multiple entry. I think in immigration they have changed the rules now. even the border security officer in airport are not sure about this when I made second departure from Australia. During my second entry in Australia I wasn't have any problem.

My bridging visa has expired on 8th February 2017.

That's why I am not sure whether I can reapply for bridging visa now. If you have any idea about it please let me know, Meanwhile I will keep digging the internet and try to find answer for it.

Thanks again.

Unfortunately, I am not aware of this change. I think the best course of action would be to call DIBP directly, or visit their office (I assume you are in Aus now).

Let us know if you find anything.
