Invitation statistics for high demand occupations

Due to large numbers of EOIs being received for the below occupations, DIBP decided to invite on a pro rata basis for these occupations over the 2016-17 programme year. However, this process can be changed if situation demands. SkillSelect first allocates available places to Skilled – Independent (subclass 189) visas and then remaining to Skilled – Regional (subclass 489) (Provisional – Family Sponsored) visas. If all places are taken up by subclass 189 visas then there will be no invitations issued for subclass 489 visas in these occupations.

Hi Mystic,

Below r my details:

Name: RAMEEZ AKHTAR

GOT POSITIVE ASSESSMENT AS ACCOUNTANT FROM ICAA ON 17TH MAY 2016

EOI SUBMITTED: 22ND MAY, UPDATED 19 JULY 2016

POINTS BREAKDOWN:

IELTS: 10

EDU: 15

AGE: 30

EXP 7 YEARS: 10

TOTAL: 65

I applied in both 189 and 190 category, in 190 i opted for NSW.

the question is as to when can i expect invitation with 65 points in 189 category or 70 points in state nomination.

I also tell that my points would be 70 in SUBCLASS 189 in FEB 2017, bcz i would have 8 experience years then,

so i want to ask that whether i have a fair chance before feb 2017 with 65 points or not??

I can't think of any reason you have to wait till next Feb with 65 points in Accountant skill. Ofcourse, that can happen, but I'll be surprised.

Yaa, I know accountant is a high demand occupation. Still, if it stucks at 70 for next 5 months, I'll be surprised. Once it comes down to 65, all that matter will be when did you submit, and 22nd May sounds a lot to be hopeful.

Ofcourse, unfortunately DIBP does not reveal occupation-wise details, so we don't know how many applications are pending and how many new EOIs are being submitted each month, so I can be wrong.

I am hopeful about your chance of getting an invitation in either subclass by Feb. Good news is, like you said, even if you don't, you have a good backup of getting extra 5 points in Feb.

@ MysticRiver - You have mentioned 65 as the points score required (practically) for Software and Applications Programmers to be getting invited. I will be getting 5 points in 01 December 2016 for my experience and therefore my points score will increase to 60. As far as I understand, still it will not enough to be invited due to high demand ? Is n't it ?

But you have answered rameezcfa otherwise. Although he needs 70, you have said that it would be enough to have 65 points, considering the date of submission of EOI. But in my case I'll be submitting 189 EOI on 01 December where as I have already submitted 190 EOIs on February this year. Do you think I still have a chance either in 189 or 190 ?

Thanks.

This comment is just from the trend of past few rounds. Of course, the situation can change. It always follows demand and supply chain. Right now, 60 points look little tough to get an invitation in ICT based occupation, but it doesn't mean it is impossible.

@rameezcfa is in Accountant category in SOL. In last few rounds, the minimum point that got invitation (in Accountant skill) was 70, which is his question related to. In my personal belief, I think 70 is a high number and not many people should have that. that's why I had the opinion that the minimum point should come down to 65.

For ICT, of course it can come down to 60, it is not impossible at all. But, the probability that 70 will come down to 65 in near future should be higher than 65 to come down to 60. But, you know, probability is always a vague term :).

Hi Mystic,

I am planing to sponsor my brother using Subclass 489, however his IELTS result is not as good as her girlfriend. Is it possible to sponsor his girlfriend? ( they are planning to get married anytime soon) by then she will be my sister in law. They are both qualified nurse.

Kind regards,

The official time line is 3 months for both category. But the time is just a guideline and it varies a lot (+/-) case to case. The processing is generally higher for citizens of the countries which Aus considers 9f high risk.
