ACT State Nomination

Hi there.

My self Rajshekhar. Actually I’m bit confused about Canberra State Nomination. I have done my masters in business and project management in Victoria and Mechanical Engineering in India. I’m 22 years old.
I can get 7 in each in PTE.

Is it good move for Canberra state nomination.
Or else is it possible to get PR in Victoria itself.

If I have to move to Canberra. Do I need to study over there again for one year.

This is my situation now. Could you please give me some subjections.

Are you living in Canberra, or have a PhD from an ACT university?

THE ACT SKILLED MIGRATION PROGRAM IS NOW CLOSED TO OVERSEAS APPLICANTS: EFFECTIVE 23 AUGUST 2017
However, if you are living overseas and you have close ties (either family or genuine job offer) in Canberra; OR you have completed a PhD at an ACT university, you can still apply for ACT 190 nomination if you meet the criteria.
CANBERRA RESIDENTS - if you are living in Canberra, you can apply for ACT 190 nomination as soon as you meet the nomination criteria.

Now I’m on post graduate work visa. Living in Melbourne. Do I need to study in Canberra for one academic year to meet the requirements for the state nomination of Canberra

From the requirement, it seems you need to have any of the followings:
1. Canberra residents
2. PhD holder from an ACT university
3. Have a close bond with ACT

Hello friends,

I am planning to South autralia state sponsorship visa subclass 489. When I checked my eligibility I score 55 points and I know I have to get 60 points to apply. If state sponsorship grant 5 points , can I meet the points of 60 to lodge EOI?

Please advice

I think 489 gives you 10 points which will take your total to 65.

2. When my husband needs to book IELTS? Booking a date tomorrow will be too early? He has a good result for IELTS academic. Can't he submit it? Does he need IELTS general?
3. Please send me links for the procedure of applying for the visa if this forum has any.

I believe you got through the assessment yourself. If so there's no need at all for an agent. Even if not, agents are not required if you have enough time and ideas on what all you have to do for the process. (Having an agent is an additional expenditure as far as am concerned.)

Who is the main applicant? You/Your husband?
Either IELTS should suffice. But make sure the scores are valid.

I am not sure if 489 application differs from the 189/190. @MysticRiver will certainly help you out here.

I am the main applicant.
I meant the IELTS for spouse's English requirement in order to apply for the visa. He has overall 7.5 and each band 7.0 and 7.5 for other modules, but academic (He has done academic IELTS last month for the purpose of applying a MSc that's why)

That'd be fine. If he's having 7 in all the modules, then the score'd be valid for three years.

Did you see somewhere that IELTS-A is invalid for immigration purposes? Nowhere here does it mention IELTS-A/G. So there's no limitation.

Oh, thanks thanks. I thought IELTS-G for migration purposes and IELTS-A for studying purposes. Thanks for helping me out. We were about to book IELTS-G

@Chash I am almost confident because I took PTE-Academic, which is generally for education, but it's accepted for migration as well in Australia.
