Hi All,
Hope you may have seen the new feature added on to the menu bar of MD homepage. and the Random Media cascading along the homepage. Please post your valuable comments on what we can do to improve these features. I believe that it'd help our members know what to expect in Australia and various cities and regional areas across it.
I've some of my ideas jotted down here.
  • The title and a description for the photo should be "A MUST". This will help others in understanding the location/occasion of the image etc.
  • Some of the categories I feel important are: Nature, Landscape, City-life, Nightlife, Neighborhoods, Community, People, Places, Food, Weather, Animals, Fashion, Culture, Sports, Adventure, Automotive, Urban, Street Photography etc.
  • The images could be of locations and events across Australia, and even other nations, to which the poster has emotional attachment.
  • Posting photos of other countries will give other members a view of what the poster has left behind/ or is ready to leave behind and enter the Aus.
  • It’ll also give a glimpse of the culture of other countries which is an added advantage since one will definitely have to mingle with others of similar cultural background, once in The Aus.
  • Adding a Geotagging feature would make it awesome. (But the server would be a concern, wouldn't it @MysticRiver ?
I invite you to team up with us in improving MigrationDesk and cater to wider expectations from our members and guests.

Thanks in advance!! :D

Okay, I am in the position now to answer few of the suggestions
The title and a description for the photo should be "A MUST". This will help others in understanding the location/occasion of the image etc.
The title is already a mandatory field. I have added another mandatory field "Geographic Location" to trace the location. Let's see how this works.

Some of the categories I feel important are: Nature, Landscape, City-life, Nightlife, Neighborhoods, Community, People, Places, Food, Weather, Animals, Fashion, Culture, Sports, Adventure, Automotive, Urban, Street Photography etc.
Added extra categories.

The images could be of locations and events across Australia, and even other nations, to which the poster has emotional attachment.
Sure, let see how it goes.

Adding a Geotagging feature would make it awesome. (But the server would be a concern, wouldn't it @MysticRiver ?
Yaa, for the moment we have to be content with the mandatory Geographic Location field.

There's an issue with the detail of Date Taken in the Image Metadata. It's incorrect. The date shown is the date of posting I guess. All of my 4 images have their taken dates mentioned as the date of editing. Maybe they are just collaborating the detail from the Saved data of the file!

So, is it the date of editing or date of posting? I guess it shows the date of editing, right?

Consider before posting:
  • Do not post the same thing in multiple places.
  • No personal contact and/or non-English phrase is allowed.
  • Always post in a relevant thread or open a new one.
  • Better to use the reactions in a post to congratulate/thank.
