What's next after EOI

Dear MysticRiver,

I am planning to submit my EOI after getting my IELTS results, which is somewhere mid Dec hopefully. My concern is how much time I have to gather the rest of the docs when I receive an invitation.

Based on the info I compiled from the web, is the below sequence correct?
1. wait for an invite (the wait is dependent on how high my points are), and I have 60 days to accept that invitation

2. data preparation after invitation - payslips, bank statements, partner's IELTS, health and police clearance

My next question will be, if I have limited time after accepting the invitation (I read in another forum I will only have 28 days and need to justify if I need an extension), I should have completed every doc before accepting and leave only the health and police clearance at that stage?

Hi,

Point number 2 can be delayed actually.

1) Wait for the invitation
2) After you get invitation, you have to fillup online application form (just the info, not any documents)
3) Pay the application fee and submit the application
4) You will be given a place to upload your documents. You can (not must) start uploading if you want.
5) Within a few weeks, your case officer will be assigned, and he'll send you a formal request with a required documents checklist. From this point you will have 29 days, NOT from the day you got invitation (point 1) or submitted application (point 3).
6) If you feel you can't submit all within that time limit, you can make a request for extension with proper reasoning. This is not very hard & fast limit, normally they allow without much hassle.
7) Wait for the processing/checking to be finished (I have seen waiting time ranges from 1.5 months to 30 months).
8) Once processing is done, they will ask for a secondary fee if any dependent does not meet English proficiency criteria.
9) Once you pay that fee, OR all dependents meet the criteria you will receive a visa grant letter.

That's the total process flow.

60 days ... it has nothing to do with Form 80 or any other documents. Once you get invitation, you will have 60 days to fill up, pay fee and submit the visa application.

Oh, thanks! I read this a few times, but i didn't noticed that its the form after the EOI, how embarrassing

i opted for a lower level job, an Analyst Programmer, I have 65

I'm applying for Systems Analyst, 60p (189) and 65p (190 NSW). Hopefully I'll get an invite for 189 or 190 by the end of August/16, when I turn 40 and I loose points due the age factor. I'll try to improve my english band level anyways... from 7.0 to 8.0. My occupation is at pro-rata and the threshold is currently 65p;

I think you have good chances to be invited soon (around 2 months or less) with 65p for 189. Good luck!

that's what i noticed so i opted a job one level lower instead, i'm still waiting for my IELTS, hopefully i can get overall 7, that could give me extra 10points

hmm... i submitted my EOI yesterday morning with 65 points, then i received an invitation to apply for a visa just now

It's not very uncommon. Invitation process is system auto generated and it invites on fixed dates, twice a month. For example, last invitation round was on 20th Nov, and the system made the ranking at 00:00 hours on 20th Nov. So anyone who submitted the EOI with enough points on 19th Nov 11:59 PM, they would got the invitation within 1 min .

And for state sponsored cases (subclass 190 and subclass 489), similar thing can happen, depending when the state send the invitation.

Anyway, congratulations for the invitation
