When I'll get the invitation? Any chance? How long it takes?

Okay, this is the most common question in this forum (and most probably everywhere else). People like to know
  • When I'll get the invitation?
  • Any chance for me to get an invitation with XX points?
  • How long it takes to get an invitation?
  • etc. etc.
While I understand the impatience and anxiety behind such questions, it is very tough, next to impossible, to forecast with certainty because:
  • DIBP does not release enough data for a reliable forecasting.
  • The invitation process (minimum points, number of invitations per round etc.) varies occupation to occupation. So, it is possible for a certain occupation to have invitation at 60 points while another high demand occupation stuck at 70. And because, DIBP does not reveal the occupation-wise statistics (except few high-demand occupations), it is not possible to know what chances you have for your occupation.
  • DIBP also does not reveal how many pending applications are in the pipeline. So, even with the knowledge of minimum points for a few occupations, you can't simply deduce your chance because you don't know how many people are actually waiting in the queue.
  • Lastly, it also depends on how many new applications are going to be submitted between now and next invitation rounds, and how many of them will have more points than you. Again, there is no historical data available which enable us to model the new submission probability, so we just can't say when or whether.
  • If someone actually comments on your chance, remember, they are, at best, doing that based on the members reporting in their forums about invitation, which is a tiny tiny subset of the real invitees. So, that is not something with a very strong base, and hence we don't do such thing.
So, the bottom line is:
You can't know when you'll get invited, and simply put, the more point you have the more chance you have for an earlier invitation.

On application processing time:
The current cut-off date is 3 months for both 189 and 190 subclasses, also no distinction between on-shore and off-shore applicants.

However, the cut-off date is only an indication, it varies a lot from case to case. In my personal experience, I have seen processing time varied from 1 month up to 2.5 years.

Another thing is, no news is a good news. Don't get impatience if you don't receive any feedback from your CO, because if something rings a bell, they definitely ask you for clarification.

Do you think I can suggest a web where people come and input their cases and anyone can actually calculate a tentative time/date of invite with different aspect? I am sure you must have known that too. But is it allowed to share a link of any other website?

I believe you meant the link in below post? While I kept that link for reference if anyone wants, but you must note that the listing their is only a tiny sample of all the invitees.

http://www.migrationdesk.com/threads/visa-grant-notifications.41539/#post-43082

If you meant some other link and think that's useful, though I am not a fan of posting unofficial links here unless it's mutual, you can mention the link without much advertisement.. because that's not our goal :).

Oh yes, the same link, I find it helpful, although the number of submitted EOI's around the globe couldn't be accurately calculated. Yet it gives a glimpse of what's going on.

@MysticRiver the way DIBP releases the summary for 189 invitation rounds, how is that done for 190? Are there any rounds too? I thought they were treated in the same rounds, but I just noticed that its a round for subclass 189 and 489 only.

Yes, all the state sponsored subclass (189, 489 SS) are not part of the skillselect selection. For those categories, the invitee is selected by the corresponding states. As soon as state approves the sponsorship, the applicant gets the invitation to submit visa application.

The data released by DIBP/states is very limited for such cases. They only release total number of invitation (per state per subclass) for each month.

Don't think so, EOI's not mentioned here
DIBP said:
ImmiAccount is the 'front door' to our online services. You need to use ImmiAccount if you want to:

  • apply for a visa or citizenship online
  • access the My Health Declarations service
  • continue a saved online application
  • import a paper application (service available for certain visa subclasses only)
  • attach documents to an online or imported paper application
  • consent to using eMedical and answer medical related questions where required
  • check the progress of an online or imported paper application
  • update application details online
  • access Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO) (organisation accounts only) and LEGENDcom.

So the visa application can be imported. A friend told me a while ago that I can track my application from Immi account, I already have an immi account but when I tried with my EOI. It said Application ID doesn't match. Hence I believe after lodging the visa application I can track.

Yes, you can see or track your application only after lodging your application. until your visa application is lodged, skill select EOI and e-mail are they way of communications.

As per my experience, you need not to make efforts to import/download your lodged application. Once the applicaiton is successfully lodged in immi(via EOI), email will be sent with application attached.

Hello,

I want to know that when we apply for NSW state sponsorship , then at what date of month they review that request and give their decision ?

No state has revealed this information. We know this information for subclass 189, not for subclass 190.

Hiii everybody!!!
Currently my point is 55+5 ss in 261313 - software engineer.
I am able to claim 5 points of my work exp from july.
I have applied for nsw state sponsorship.
So pls can any one tell me in what time I get the invitation?
As far as i know there is very less chance with such points.
So I m thinking of reappearring in PTE.
N there is also another option of skill assessment of my partner through which I an have another 5 points.
So pls tell me which would be better?
N do my partner need to give English proficiency exam? Pls note that he has done his post graduation from Australia. So i think pte/ ielts is not required for him.

Right now you have slim chances to get an invite with 65 points with 190. Waiting till July and getting the points higher to 70 will give you a better chance in 190.

If you think you can get better score in PTE, that is good. You must go for it.

You will be able to claim partner points after a positive assessment + proficient english. Which will cost you higher then giving a PTE yourself. But yes you can go for that too.

N do my partner need to give English proficiency exam? Pls note that he has done his post graduation from Australia. So i think pte/ ielts is not required for him.

If you are the main applicant and you are not claiming partner's points then your partner do not need Proficient english, He needs 4.5 over all, which is actually in the middle of modest / limited user. But as you said your partner studied from an Australian institute then I believe he wont be needing that if the Australian Institute provides a certificate that the person studied his entire course in English.

If you have 7 each in IELTS, you can always apply for Victoria.

But I would suggest if you may get 189, you can go anywhere you like.

You would have had better chances with a little more score i.e. 65 or 70!
