Is job a mandatory criteria for opening a bank account too?

No. Bank account is a basic right ;);). Yo can open a bank account online even before you travel to Australia.

Choosing a bank in Australia can be a bit of a puzzle, but it's all about finding the right fit for what you need. The Big Four (CBA, ANZ, NAB, Westpac) are super convenient with branches everywhere, but sometimes their fees can be higher. ING and Suncorp are cool for better rates and good service, especially if you're into online banking. Bankwest and St George can have some neat perks too, like special accounts or rewards.
