Hello everyone

I am planning to move to Sydney in June 2019 and have already started applying various jobs through seek.au portal. Currently, I have no connection in Sydney and I have heard, employers always seek local reference for considering any job application. Can someone (who are already settled after they got PR) help me some concrete information on how to get job without having local reference and also, how can I get survival jobs to bear my daily/monthly expenses as long as I do not get a job in my own field.

How can I get to know about good job consultants and do they charge anything?

I would really appreciate your advise and suggestions. I am bit nervous as I am a single female and travelling alone with no connections out there, therefore, seeking your help.

Thanks & Regards
Kanchan

Just apply in as many places as you can, there are no other shortcuts. If you can manage to get a short local diploma, it might increase your chance.

Again, apply as many places as you can. There are lots of chain shops who frequently need new recruits.

Yes, local experience is very well given first priority. Secondly they prefer candidates who are physically available there.
Although few of my friends got job from offshore itself but for that you have to apply in as many sites as possilbe; like mystic mentioned.
Lastly applying from here also depends on your notice period in current organization!!1

I am sharing my experience of job hunt in Sydney so far. I landed here on 21 Mar 2019 with no connections or references. For a job hunt your CV plays a major role. You have to modif your CV for each job posting based on the Job Description. Then update your LinkedIn profile also with latest information. I subscribed to LinkedIn premium so that I could directly send emails to the recruiters. I applied on seek as well with each unique cv to match the job description. I connected with some local friends by attending the meetups relates to job search and floated my CV through them to their organizations. Finally I got some interview calls and gave interviews and selected for one of the MNC. These all happened within 20 days. So the lesson learnt is try to get as many acquaintance as possible and try through multiple channels with right CV.

Thank you so much. I will definitely keep the above information in mind while applying for jobs. Hoping for the best.

@balaji.t123 congrats bro on ur grant as I am also lodging my application by next week for 190 visa kindly can u confirm what documents did you submit ? Especially related to employment and other documents it would be great help as you have received direct grant. And one more thing I believe your assessment was also done through ACS so did you upload any evidence related to your deducted experience by ACS or non claimed experience? Because I guess there is no need to upload anything related to work if you are not claiming points for it right?

Thank you bro @MysticRiver and need one more clarification as I am about to lodge my visa application so the reference letter which I had received from HR in that my second designation was mentioned as IT system administrator but all my pay slips and performance review letters during that time has Systems Administrator so will it make any issue or should I go ahead without any tension?

I think they are close enough not to invite any trouble.

So I am good to go? Because now I am already invited so i guess there is not use to get a new reference letter with the corrected one as in my Eoi I had used as per my current reference letter.

Of course, I can't guarantee anything, but in my opinion, you are good to go.

Hi I am about to lodge my 190 visa application . Could anybody confirm how many payslips are needed for each year of experience relevant to the points claimed ? I have mainly retained the last three months payslips for companies I have worked in. Is it also required to submit offer and relieving letter for each year

Regards

You should have 3/4 per year at the list, but I would say upload as many as you can.

Is it sufficient to submit just offer and experience letters for the years not marked as skilled assessment? As it was very long ago I might not have many payslips. I do have my tax returns offer relieving letters

Consider before posting:
  • Do not post the same thing in multiple places.
  • No personal contact and/or non-English phrase is allowed.
  • Always post in a relevant thread or open a new one.
  • Better to use the reactions in a post to congratulate/thank.
