Invitation statistics for high demand occupations

Due to large numbers of EOIs being received for the below occupations, DIBP decided to invite on a pro rata basis for these occupations over the 2018-19 program year. However, this process can be changed if the situation demands. SkillSelect first allocates available places to Skilled – Independent (subclass 189) visas and then remaining to Skilled – Regional (subclass 489) (Provisional – Family Sponsored) visas. If all places are taken up by subclass 189 visas then there will be no invitations issued for subclass 489 visas in these occupations.

DIBP decided to invite on a pro rata basis for these occupations over the 2018-19 program year

Does this mean that pro rata occupations will receive priority now? if this is true, can we expect for an invite for 65 points will be in the near future (two months)?

If they go by 1000 per round, that effectively means 500/round in the old system which is not much improved compared to last year's nightmarish rounds.

However, they might increase the number in the next rounds, which can improve the situation.

There is no change on this front. It will be exactly the same as last years.

There is no change in the front means same 65 are not going to get an invite right only 70 and 75 we’re getting invite in last 8 month approx
No, I just said the terms and conditions are same, no idea about the probable cut-off point in future.

I believe that is due to the backlog, this will be further clarified in 11 Aug invitation as how many persons are applying after 5/07/2018 will explain the situation. If number of applicants is limited after 5/07/2018, it will surely come to 75 again

Hi! I’m a bit confused as to how 572 invites were given for 70 points where as none of the occupations in the above list had a score of 70. All of them are greater than or equal to 75. Or does the score for each occupation listed in this table only the upper limit? Meaning for ICT Business Analysts... the score states 80 but they do give invites for candidates with 75? I’m trying to understand if the score given for each occupation is the upper limit or the power cut off.

Hi @MysticRiver
Please advise if the point score stated for each occupation in the table above is the upper limit or the lower cut off point? For e.g. ICT Business Analyst has a score of 80. Does this mean only those candidates having points 80 and above were given invites?
Yes

If the results show a definite point against the occupation, that is the cut-off for that occupation. As you mentioned, for ICT BA the cut-off states 80, then only those candidates with 80 or above are invited.

Hi Dileep/Mystic,

Is 261314- Software tester removed from NSW ? Whoever has applied to NSW in 261314 is no more eligible to get an invite.

Can you please confirm this. And if it so, where else should we file an EOI except victoria?

@chirag makhija
Attached herewith the NSW priority list as of 20 July '18, and it has omitted the 261314. So I believe they won't be providing invites until the occupation re-enters the list.

You'll have to search individual state's websites.
NSW : https://www.industry.nsw.gov.au/
SA : http://www.migration.sa.gov.au/
VIC : https://liveinmelbourne.vic.gov.au/

But if you check the table above none of the occupations have a cut off of 70 yet the graph shows 572 invitations with 70 score points. How is that possible?
